After working for five years as an auto technician, Kenith was unfortunately laid off. He used his lay off as an opportunity to make a career change, but wasn’t sure which industry would suit him best. When Kenith heard about National Able Network’s technology academy, IT Career Lab, he decided to enroll and begin a career in Information Technology! “I liked working with computers, so I wanted to explore the IT field and test the waters,” said Kenith.

To help him get started on his new career path, Kenith came to National Able Network where he was enrolled in the Employment Opportunities, Personalized Services, Individualized Training, Career Planning (EPIC) program, and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program. As a client of National Able Network, Kenith worked one-on-one with his career coach, Kelsey Briggs-Dineen, and completed job search training through JUMPSTART. “Kelsey helped me with organizing my career path and also with correcting errors on my resume and making sure I stayed on the employment path for my career,” said Kenith.

Kenith was a dedicated student throughout his training with IT Career Lab. With his hard work and determination, Kenith earned his Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification! After graduating from IT Career Lab, Kenith began volunteering and found a temporary position at LeasePlan USA. He quickly proved his talents in IT and was offered a permanent position as the Repair Associate!

Kenith is grateful to IT Career Lab and National Able Network for helping him start a new career path. “National Able Network is a positive program,” said Kenith. “It helps you explore different career paths and opportunities that you might not have had before.”
